Better late than never! This is the fist launch of this blog and as the name and description implies we need your input to help us do a better job. The Nortwoods Trail system includes all trails from Jackman east to Millinocket from Kokadjo north to Pittston Farm and Chesuncook. This is snow county, and for the last 11 years that we've lived here, we've always had plenty of snow, early in the winter and late right into early Spring.
We'll be contacting the clubs in the Northwoods area and ask them for their input. Please send your input also.

On Tuesday we opened up a nice connection from the new Black Pond trail (groomed by both the Jo Mary Riders & Ragged Riders clubs)out to Caribou Lake. Look for arrow that says, "To Caribou Lake" about 2 miles west of new bridge at Wadleigh stream. Goat path for 1/2 mile turning in to significant unplowed logging road. Distance to Greenville road crossing, 4.4 miles. Go directly across Greenville road and follow flagging to Golden Road crossing. STOP, LOOK & LISTEN for logging trucks BEFORE crossing the road. 200 yards to Caribou Lake. Please use the trail, don't run the roads.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of snow fall are you seeing with the current storm. We range from a low of a wet dusting in Millinocket to a quick gain of a few inches out buy Twin Pines and had over 5 this am between there and Kakadjo! NOAA calling for 3-7 more for tomorrow!
ReplyDelete4" today with a 1/2" of sleet. Snowing again now 30F. We've been getting a steady 1"-2" a night for the past 3 nights. We're not losing any, nor with the warm days 32F are keeping any. The plus side is the lakes have 3-4" of good flat snow that make lake travel excellent, no snow waves.
ReplyDeleteHeard from John Willard at the Birches and he reported 6" of new snow around noon for the Rockwood area. Same with Bob Mills at Pittston Farm. Things are looking up!
